STS-126 ENDEAVOUR launch scheduled this friday November 14 at 7:55pm EST (0055z Nov 15).....

this launch window is PERFECT for a really spectacular view all up the east coast !

hopefully rain won't be a problem in your specific location--looks like it will be here along the NC coast :-(

but there's still the radio comms from Endeavour on 259.7 Mhz AM to look forward to !

so, listen up and look up !!!

What type of foot print will the comms have... ? are they relitively high powered?

Not high at all, if you aren't fairly close to the East Coast you have no need to try.

I am not familiar with space shuttle communications channels, even though I reside in Florida. It never really dawned on me to try to listen in on any communications, thought I was too far away from the launch pad. I was never sure that I could ever pick them up. They launch from the space coast area, and Im up in Ocala approx 2 1/2 to 3 hours away...

I am excited and awaiting the launch. Is 259.7 Mhz on am the only frequency that they use, might there be an alternative to set the reciever on scan... maybe we can bounce scan 2 frequencies during lift-off and catch some cool comms. Thanks

There's nothing you can hear in Colorado. Just the 259MHz frequency on launch and landing.

Since the PRO95 doesn't cover the UHF milair band, and we don't know where you are, your best bet is likely to be the various ham repeaters that, at times, relay mission audio. Not many are doing that here in Maryland anymore. I think there is a list on the Grove PDF file (link below), but it's likely a bit dated.

You can track the ISS and listen to it as it passes over your location.
