There was some clueless guy flying down the highway through a major restricted area one day, in a tail dragger. Wasn't talking to anybody. The nearby tower sent over an F-22 that happen to be up at the time. This was back when there was only about 6 of them flying yet. 22 guy blows by clueless guy, then cranks back around along side of him. Tower says: "I don't think he knows he's in a restricted area". 22 guy: "He definitely does now".

Back during the '96 Olympics in Atlanta, we had one of our traffic surveillence aircraft get vectored into a no fly zone, so up when the Blackhawk. The aircraft landed along with the Blackhawk who kept the .50 caliber machine gun trained on it. FAA later cleared the pilot as they were vectored by the tower into the no fly zone.

Reminds me of a story that we were told one day while getting the grand tour of Los Angeles Center in Palmdale...

Seems some guy was flying from Whiteman direct Las Vegas in a V-tail doctor-killer when he crossed over Edwards AFB during some live fire exercises. There was an F18 at about FL500 pointing straight down and firing some missiles. They narrowly missed the idiot in the Bonanza, who cluelessly flew on to Vegas. When he arrived, he was told to report directly to the tower, and on the way there was intercepted and escorted by the local police, and representatives of the FAA and the Air Force. His first remark was "Never mind that, I have to tell somebody about the most amazing meteor shower I just saw!"

Nobody has really answered the original question. With all of the monitors and frequency lists available in the DC area, did anybody catch this actual incident?

I saw no reports about this "incident" on any local TV news shows, nor did I see anything in the local press about it. I live in Northwest DC.

I missed hearing this incident take place because it happened just as I was leaving work. It is all over the local news though. What isn't in the news though is whatever happened yesterday.

Yesterday two F-16s (Brave-1 and Brave-2) and a USCG helo (Blackjack) were up to something around 1600 local. By the time I had tuned in it seemed as if ATC must've been in contact with the violator. The F-16s were being told to orbit near an air defense sector. The helo was too weak for me tell hear what he was doing. I doubt it was an exercise since they always announce those ahead of time.

I would love to have that in my logbook! How great that would look when I get my licence when I turn the big 17!

I just wouldn't like the fine, no flying, jail and all that good stuff :) . I hope he doesn't plan on getting his licence, I think I would just consider myself done with aviation..... :)
