• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Im trying to set up a channel where the dispatch will stay closed other than to alert during a call while also broadcasting operations channels. I have it set to Tg scan. I have the subgroup feature on and auto reset. I have the dispatch in priority tg and the ops channels in non priority. Alternatives is unchecked. I am still receiving all the traffic on the dispatch channel.

Also is there a way to set it up where the whole pager will remain silent and once it opens it will then begin to monitor the operations channels? Thanks for any help. Steve

I do not think this can be done after trying to mess around with it. Trying to program one talk group with a sub-group and the other without a sub-group pops up a message saying that alternatives will be enabled for the TGID without a sub-group, but it looks like the alternatives mode is being used globally instead of per TGID.

I am on a older version of firmware and PPS, so I do not know if that is how still works with the latest firmware and PPS. If it still the same, then you could try to contact Unication support to see if this is intended behavior or is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Program the reset mode as Selective Manual Reset, which will keep the pager unmuted until it is reset using the side button.

As you move through the menu, you will notice the ability to enter talk group list and sub-group information twice. The first knob talk group list is what you want your pager to monitor to trigger an alert, so this would be the dispatch talk group and sub-group(s) you would like to alert the pager. The second "Revert" talk group list is what talk group(s) the pager will monitor after it has been alerted and until it is reset. After a pager is reset, it will return to being muted and only monitor the first list until it is alerted again.

I have the same issue. I think since dispatch TG is active, and is a priority, the pager goes to dispatch and ignores the subgroup settings. seems to be fine if all the channels are same priority.
