Today I decided to install NRSC5 on this laptop. It involved MSYS2 to be installed. Long process. Had to use pacman -Syyuu because -Syu returned with no database. -Syyuu resolved the database issue because it needs git to clone into NRSC5 github branch. It took a long time for it to compile thousands of things. I get no drop outs on a local radio station 96.1 KXY. For those who don't know what NRSC5 is it decodes the digital side bands of a FM radio stations. The two thick bars left and right of the main carrier.
After it's finished all the thousands of jobs it needs to do I went into the mingw/bin folder and moved the nrsc5.exe and libnrsc5.dll files to a new folder. It's a command line program which would be opened in command prompt like this nrsc5 96.1 0 with 0 being the program which in this case it is the stations digital version of the standard FM signal while signal 1 is a live rebroadcast of 1000 KTOK (yes a AM station in full stereo!).
It was a success!
