Suction Cup antenna ??

When I put up this antenna should I have up and down or across the window ? My son lives in a mobile home and wants to have a police scanner in his room.

But you might try the scanner in his room without the antenna first. MIght be just fine for what he wants to hear...maybe a shelf or bookcase near the window would work just as well.

External antenna only if necessary....

Suction Cup Wire Antenna.

I use one of the suction cup wire antennas at work with a Radio Shack Pro-2066 scanner. It works very well with a push pin holding the tip up vertical against the wall. My antenna has a small loop at the end of the antenna wire. It gets me pretty good signal withing about 20 miles.

Position it vertically. Just a suggestion for a mobile home install, try a mag mount antenna on your central air unit outside, or top of a window a/c This works quite well also.
