Suddenly bad static with pro-106

I have been using my Pro-106 for almost a year now in Athens Ohio. Just today I am suddenly getting bad static on all FM channels. I noticed it when i got back from work. No matter which antenna or where I place the radio static is bout the same. Any ideas as to why this is happening. Is my scanner broken?

Did you or your wife recently purchase a new electronic item in your house?
Check and see if it is causing it, just a thought.

Nothing has changed, except my microwave stopped working. It has been unplugged
