• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I KEEP GETTING THIS MESSAGE when trying to log into RadioReference.com through CHIRP. I have seen other threads on this about how to solve this issue and I need an EXACT step by step walk through from the Mac Terminal or whatever approach I need to take.

I saw something about typing "sudo apt-get install python-suds" into Terminal but then I tried that and it didn't work and then someone else said to go to some Root, Main, Directory in the Terminal to begin to enter those commands...how do I get to that from the Terminal.

I have a Baofeng BF-F8HP and use a Mac and I can download from the radio so the cable works.
IF SOMEONE CAN MAKE A VIDEO EXPLAINING HOW TO PROPERLY INSTALL THIS PYTHON-SUDS PACAKGE, STEP BY STEP FOR MAC, I PROMISE I WILL VENMO YOU $100.

I'd also like to know how to import .csv files I download from RadioReference to CHIRP so if you can help with that also, I'd appreciate it

I'm having the same problem. There are other threads in the forum that explain it, but people keep talking about you have to enter it into the terminal, etc. I have no idea what "the terminal" is. This is ridiculous. I just paid money to get premium subscription and this crap happens.

If I remember correctly, someone said when rr updated the download system, it broke many programs that didn’t update I think chirp is one of those that didn’t update to RRs new soap format.

@jervy7 terminal is the command prompt on windows and with Unix it’s the command prompt but on it’s correct name is terminal.

Thank you. Figured it out.

I was getting the same error message and was able to figure this out with the help of another person in a different thread. I also have a Mac. Here is what I did:

1/ Copy this exactly: sudo easy_install -z suds
2/ Open Applications > Utilities > Terminal on your Mac
3/ Next to your name or whatever the name of your user profile is in Terminal that pops up, paste: sudo easy_install -z suds
4/ It will likely ask for your computer administrator PWD. Enter it and press enter.
5/ It should populate the suds or whatever within Terminal (I actually have no idea what this does or what it means)
6/ You should now be able to connect your RadioReference account through CHIRP after you download from your radio in CHIRP (I would restart CHIRP before trying just to be safe).

Hope this helps. I'll take that $100 now. Just kidding, free.

Well I've been trying to get this to work for over three hours with no success.
I enter the sudo command and after a bunch of test scrolling by it ends with this
<<ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'client'
(base) craigostrander@Craigs-MacBook-Air ~ %>>

I quit chirp and restart. download from radio then when I try to query radio reference again I get the same message that I need the suds library.
I'm using a MacBook Air 2019 model running OS Big Sur 11.0.1

Anyone else using os 11 and get this to work? I'm about to throw everything out the window at this point. I have also tried using windows in a VM and it does not work there as the driver is outdated and no new driver is available. so, I am dead in the water
