Suffolk County Fire Frequencies & Systems.

Hi All,

First time poster here, wanting to update my scanners but before I do so I was wondering if anyone happens to have a countywide rundown of which departments are operating on which frequencies/systems, including the coordinators.
I am a bit out of touch the past few years and I know there have been a few changes, as well as a bit of migration into the digital p25 county system. TIA!

Dave, a question about the county P25 system. A friend is having trouble with police reception but has no difficulty hearing Med Com and other non-police talk groups. He is using a BCD536. Which system do the police use: 700 E/W or 800?

My 200 scans 3 (700 west) and 4 (800 simulcast) with no issue. My 436 scans the same 2 and has issues at times with site 4 800. But its with all tg's, not specific ones. Where is the friend located?

In the end, that's the plan. But right now some county fire is on 700 and some county fire still on 800. In case of of friend, medcom and LE are both on 800 cells. Except for town and village pd's in the Hampton's, they are on 700.

He's on the east side of Jaynes Hill off 110 in Melville. He has a few outdoor antennas to choose from but has always had reception problems.

I just can’t figure out why his radio is so blind to PD talk groups and not to others.

Here is the problem that I can't resolve: the radio is receiving a full scale signal it stops on a "talk group" with "data" indicated but no "P25" and no voice modulation. What should I be checking on? Thanks. Again this only happens with the SCPD TGs, not other TGs

I think I remember reading that SCPD is encrypted. Is that the issue?

SCPD is not encrypted - but Nassau County is. I listen to SCPD all day on my various scanners, including SDS100 and 200

If there was only some way to verify that SCPD wasn't encrypted....

Like a large database that directly links to the trunk system showing, clearly, the encryption status.

SCPD all Township PD’s and all Village PD’s within Suffolk are in the clear.

4/536 are not the best for simulcast but since he is getting other tg's without issue, ensure the 3 service types for Law are enabled. Did he create a fav list or is he using zip code? If zip, when is the last time he updated the full db and pushed it to the scanner? If fav, was it appended/imported or created by hand? If by hand, what service types were used, and are they on?
