• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

i did a search but didnt see anything,
Has anyone created a Suffolk County NY P25 unit id list?
Specifically each units radio id converted to the actual unit using that radio
I have started creating my own list and keep adding to it every day with the help of my G5 and the voice record function but then i thought to myself, I cant be the first person to do this lol.
Sooooo has anyone else made one of these lists they would be willing to share? (W2LIE? lol)
And if not, Is there a files section i can upload mine so it can be shared with anyone else that may want it and constantly updated?
thanks so much for your help

Sorry Jim
As much as I love monitoring new systems and watching them grow as more users are assigned radios, I've been unable to spend the time doing so with this system due to ongoing cancer treatments.

You may find more information on my scanner website. Many locals have been contributing updates there and I'm sure some of them have databases of RIDs. It will be up to them if they are comfortable enough to share that info.

If your referring to the list in the wiki, it was last edited in 2015. And those are radios from the smartzone system and do not reflect any of the new radios that are in use today on the p25 system. There is still a good amount of those legacy radios still in use but I would seriously doubt any of the tags will match up.

I'm running unitrunker v2 consistently and have been slowly trying to put a unit id to a radio id, but given the work/home needs I haven't been able to spend as much time as I would like.

So just a quick update, I spoke with a friend that is a Suffolk County PD Detective about the radio ID's for SCPD. I mentioned that i have a long list of SCPD ID's but noticed that certain patrol cars (Like Car 611) have a bunch of radio ID's. He said this sound right because a little over 2 years ago, SCPD started assigning protable radios to each officer as they graduated the achedemy. This means the radio actually follows the officer and not the vehical they are in that day. So while there are radios in each car, The portabl;e radios are assigned to each officer so their radio ID can show up wherever they are assigned each day. So the SCPD list will definitely need some tweeking.

Unit 611, end every other unit will have multiple radio id's attached. 1 portable radio per officer using unit number 611 that day. If they are riding with a partner that day, there will be 2 portables and a car radio all using unit 611 identifier. With 3 rotating shifts, and up to two officers per shift, plus the car radio, there can be up to 7 rids in a 24 hour period.

They are also still swapping out older radios from Smartzone 5 digit rid's with newer radios with 7 digit rid's.

Which makes maintaining a list, a never ending ordeal.

How well of a friend?
