Greetings, all -

Is anyone aware of any UHF P-25 Conventional frequencies that are being used in Suffolk County? I'd like to load some into the radio and see how it sounds. I know there are a select few VHF frequencies but I wasn't able to find any UHF ones. I'm not looking for anything specific - just anything to experiment with.

Thank you.

P25 Suffolk County

There is not too much digital conventional in Suffolk. The Northport Veterans Affairs Police are on 410.175 with NAC 293. They are usually in the clear with occasional encryption. Greenburgh, NY (Westchester County) PD is on 460.525 with NAC 156 and Wilton, CT FD is on 460.2625 with NAC 625; both can be heard well from northwest Suffolk County. If you want to listen to digital on a trunk system, the CT State Police western system (control channel 868.75) can also be heard reasonably well from northwest Suffolk as well.

Thanks for the reply! I know there is several digital frequencies on VHF, but like you said, UHF frequencies are hard to come by in Suffolk. Yonkers PD is on UHF Digital, and there are several other digital UHF frequencies in the city, but none of that could be heard from Suffolk, obviously.

I'll keep looking for anything, including business, and I'll try and post it at a later date if anyone's interested in the Digital stuff

Thanks again!

It is reported that Dix Hills FD has one of their tac freqs setup to use P25. (458.1875)
It is simplex, and I can not confirm that it is even being used from my location.

164.9125 is USCG in NYC P25. Don't know if you can hear it in Suffolk.

Gentlemen,

thank you all very much for the information. I'm pretty sure that I would need the NAC code to monitor the stations with a P-25 radio, but I am not certain as to whether or not I'd need the NAC to monitor with a scanner. In any event, I only have UHF radio at the moment, so I cannot test the VHF frequencies. But judging from the replies, I'll guess that there is are a few people other than myself that might find this information useful, so I'll keep digging and I'll be sure to post anything I've confirmed. Kinda stinks having these digital radios and nothing 'digital' to listen to. :(

Thanks again!!

Why would you need a NAC code to monitor? It's the same as a PL/DPL. You can listen on a digital capable scanner. I wonder what you mean by testing the freqs? I hope not transmitting.
When people with digital scanners who have NAC decoding capability they have listed the proper information on the RR Database.

Exactly, We ALL hope he does NOT transmit knowing the NAC codes when he puts it in his 2-way radio...

New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in Central Islip is on Digital. The frequency is 463.3125. I don't have the receive NAC code so I'm not able to hear what they're saying but it's definitely digital.

A couple of months back, a friend of mine was telling me that they switched to digital and gave me the frequency. I wrote it down and just recently stumbled upon those notes. Right now they have their old repeater which is still up but not being used, and their new digital repeater which I'm hearing through the grapevine is pretty active. Pop it in and you'll hear them. I'll double check and make sure that the frequency I gave you was their new one.

The UHF P-25 freq's that do exist in Suffolk, I have no problem monitoring on my XTS2500i in Digital CSQ. So it should work if your ASTRO/XTS/P25 is in proper working condition.

Happy to be of service? Now, just to keep the riff-raff off the local GMRS repeaters.... I think its damn near time for digital :D ;).
