There seems to be a National Radio Quiet Zone in Sugar Grove, WV due to radioastronomy equipment. May be you can try searching the band for activity?

Oh, OK..."radioastronomy equipment" :)

anyway, I was looking for anything pertaining to the "radioastronomy equipment facility". I will do a search when I drive through that area tomorrow. may not have much activity being close to a holiday.

Well you never know. Just keep your search range in the fed band and may be you'll get something!

I guess you were right. it was like a dead zone there. I only heard WV Dept of Natural Resources once, for about 2 mins and it was P25. other then that, I heard Dept of Highways and the local fire dept. NOTHING ELSE. that would suck to live there. I wouldn't need anything other then a 20 channel scanner.

Yep, sure sucks to be someone who love scanning and live in a radio quiet zone!

before I moved, I lived in Augusta Co VA and that falls in the quite zone as well. there was a lot to listen to there, not as much as where I now though. I think it may have to due with the distance from the two facilities...NASA and Sugar Grove. where I was a few days ago, I was a lot closer then where I used to live.
