The local news this morning reported Sullivan county TN is seeking money to upgrade to a digital radio system. Right now it is analog trunked to include SUL County, Kingsport and Bristol TN. Most of my BCT-15X scanner activity is there(I live in the NE end of Hawkins county). The digital system will cost approx. 6million and will include all of the above. No date given for the transition, as the funds still have to be obtained. When this happens it means the TRICITIES area will be digital.
Johnson City and Washington County TN are already on a digital system, every now and then I get a hit on the analog freqs for WASH county mainly EMS. This could be due to my location and antenna or WASH county primary comms are on digital, and analog is secondary (I suspect the later).
