If anyone is interested, I've produced a summary of the main Mode-S receivers and high level specs.
The list is viewable on the Radarspotting forum for all to see including Guests. There are a couple of extras to those listed on WayneH's helpful sticky.
The list may be of use to those thinking of investing in a Mode-S receiver. Those who don't can either use the free aircraft tracking websites such as Flightradar24.com or Planefinder.net, buy a Planeplotter licence or start from scratch. But in my 7 years experience, the GUI is key.
