Discussions over whether to disband the Green Fire Dispatch Center and contract with the Summit County sheriff's department for service is creating controversy in the community.
Green resident Nelson Wallace, the Akron-Canton Regional Airport's fire chief for 33 years, is among those raising concerns about eliminating the local dispatching service.

I work for a Sheriff's Office in Texas, we too answer all incoming 911 calls for our area, and transfer out fire/ems calls. I have always thought it was in the best interest of the citizens calling in to only make 1 call and talk to whoever answers without being transfered. Seconds count, so I'm for this. I'm hoping that some day in the future we will do this here and do away with the fire/ems center.

While It's hard to think of putting people out of work, the bigger picture is it'll save money, save time, and offer a much better service.
