why are they calling some cars metro? in the sheriff dept. metro#405. there is no metro in sumner co. then i hear car call for metro dispatch.
been happen for over a year now.

I don't have no trouble receiving them. I'm just asking why are they calling some units Metro? My reception ls perfect and great and programed correctly.
From what I can tell they have some units within the sheriff's department that are working with LPR and a special tech unit and they go by Metro. I was just asking if anybody had any information on it.

Bud is merely stating the obvious. He has an excellent track record here in no small part due to his line of work. There are those who know what they are speaking about and those who think they do and then the rest of us who try to ask the right question or observe the reverie from the sidelines. The forums have several members (Coast Guard fellow included) who do know what they are talking about as it is their occupation. When they opine I usually pay attention and often learn things. Better to instill the initiative to learn how to eat (solve questions) than to spoon feed.

I started looking back through my audio recordings, and audio to text transcribes with nothing heard with dispatch calling units "metro" , now I did come across a dispatcher who sounds like hes saying metro then the unit number, but is actually saying "central, then unit" Everyone in dispatch identifies themselves as central when talking over the radio, or unit # to central when trying to raise dispatch. just an example where it sound like metro, but it was actually saying central. http://beta2.sumnerincidents.com/trunk-transcribe/2024/12/16/16/20241216_161108_Sumner_2041.mp3

Okay they just dispatched unit number 406 Metro at 18.28 hrs. Scsd just heard myself.

Im attempting to find the audio you described but I dont hear anything along the lines of a unit being called metro during that time frame. Can you verify your listening to TGID 2041, which is Sumner countys primary channel, all others are encrypted on the p25 system. The analog information is no longer their primary. Now they could be simulcasting on it, or repurposed this channel but im unsure currently. I will through this old channel into my scanner when I get a chance to see if I hear what your talking about. Iv attached an image also, you can see that I have every transmission on the Sumner county system recorded, nothing is missed.
