Sumter National Forest

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas in the db for SC, but, there are no frequencies listed for Sumter NF. I may be in the area this weekend. Does anyone have frequencies for here? Also, does Abbeville use their conventional freqs, or, are they exclusively on the Palm 800 system?

Larry - I believe the tone listed for Abbeville Fire Dept on 154.370 is incorrect. They were using 173.8 for an alarm call at a day care on Highland Terrace last Thursday (06/26) morning.

154.370 / 162.2 is used by Bamberg Co ... a few counties to the east of Abbeville Co.

I haven't heard the Abbeville Co fire dispatch or ems dispatch channel active recently, but that could just be a matter of timing.

With regards to Sumter NF in the Abbeville area, try 168.675 / 156.7 R. That repeater is reportedly in Bradley, which is near Abbeville. I have never logged it in use, though. The input should be 164.825 .

The repeater is part of a series of repeaters on 168.675 across S.C. ... all with different PL tones ... that local NF operations use (alot of maintenance and land mgmt). A central dispatch in Columbia monitors each site. 168.675 / 131.8 covers an area north of where you'll be (the site may be along Hwy 72 in Union Co), and 168.675 / 136.5 covers Francis Marion NF along the coast.

I presume the answer is "yes." There are entries in the database of the Palnet info ... scroll down past the state agencies, and the municipal / county entries are sectioned and arranged alphabetically.
