By the time I was able to get the scanner up they were gone. Took me by surprise, heard lots of noise coming over the mountain behind the house and ran out to see. Grabbed the camera but not the scanner... I am hoping they fly back to base over my house then I can grab the frequencies.

To start, I'm going to try some common helo freqs for NJ:
242.4
241.0
255.7
51.50

But who knows where these guys are from. They might use a squadron common. Heard a lot of chat last few days on the 242.4 and 255.7.
So far today, the CBP Air 1 channel has been encrypted.

Add 246.8 to your rotation.

Yes guys I know I forgot to grab the scanner. And now I will admit I did it again. They just flew over the house again. On there way to the staging area I guess before they do the fly over.

51.50? The 6 meter ham band?

Yup, there is more than one in the 6 meter band. But thats the active one that pops up from time to time in this area.

Military low band aviation can go from 30 - 88 MHz. You usually find them in between the business and public safety frequencies, but sometimes they do end up on 6 meters. And some of those radios make great 6 meter rigs. They are wideband FM, wider than 20 kHz (5 kHz deviation) and they use 150 Hz as a continuous tone squelch.

Negative...51.50 is correct along with some others in the 6 meter band. They've been there for years.
