Ok So I'm building a more permanent version of the Yagi-Uda. Even cleaning the ends on all the rods. 8)

So I run Gamma2002 and get these numbers:

In INCHES;
865 MHZ
Spacing 2.116 ok
Tap point 0.783 ok
Tube Length 0.179 just a little wider than my saw blade
Insertion 0.139 I don't think I can see that without a magnifiyer.

Ok this seems to be a, no way jose, not in this lifetime, am I going to build a gamma rod with those dimensions.

Can't I just put a 2pf cap on it and call it good, because jesus there is nothing to play with here.

:? :? :? :? :?

Anyway you get the matching will work. The purpose of a "gamma rod" is to add heft to the connection. At the frequency you are working there isn't much heft to work with anyway. :lol:

You could buy a cheap 3 element commercially made and add more elements to it. That way, you know it's on-frequency. Sometimes home-brew tolerances are a killer.

Are you ever intending to transmit on it? If not why not just basically stick with the `match' you already have? Or are you attempting to *try* and `squeeze' out the very last little bit possible?
Good point. As a matter of fact, since he scaled what looked to be a 2m antenna, I am going to visit the web page he got that "match" from and see if I can't cobble together one for 2m.

'Course, {GRIN!} you *will* let us know how things go and how well it works? {VB GRIN!}

BTW, I'm begining to wonder more and more about *when* there is going to be an an `Antenna Forum'? {Hey Lindsay!!!???} These discussions are starting to really `take off'.

Just an `Olde Fart's' 2¢ worth. {GRIN!}
