Recently got a Pro-668 that went through the Whistler upgrade program in pretty good condition for $200. I set it up for Arkansas’ AWIN statewide system, and put it up against my Unication G5 to see how well it does.
Surprisingly, with the stock rubber duck, I’m not missing nearly as much as I thought I would. Even indoors, it’s missing little with only some garbled audio. It’s not as crisp or as fast as the Unication but I’m pleased with it for under $300.
The kicker is all this is on a simulcast site. I guess I’m just lucky to be in a good location.
Anyways, if you’re on a budget, I’d recommend the Pro-668. Even if it isn’t the latest and greatest, old tech still can work just as well.
