Does anyone have a rundown / purpose of all the various fire talk groups for Sussex County? Their seems to be a lot of them, and the tg descriptions in the RRDB isn't very helpful.

in Sussex the county is broken up into 3 areas for fire and ems. There also are 2 additional overflow tkgp's for fire response. Provided below are the tkgps we use 99% of the time.

Sussex Fire Dispatch ( dedicated to call dispatch only, no units call Sussex on this tkgp).

Fire 2 and Ems 3 are both used for fire response on the east side stations ( sta. 70,84,90,82,80,85 and I think 89 )
Fire ops 2 can be utilized by crews operation interior but not required.

Fire 3 and Ems 2 are for Central 113 corridor, ( Sta. 88,76,73,79,77,75 )
Fire ops 3 can be utilized by crews operation interior but not required.

Fire 4 and Ems 1 are for the westside stations along Rt13 Corridor. ( Sta. 74,72,81,71,87,78,72)
Fire Ops 4 can be utilized by crews operation interior but not required.

Fire 1 and Fire 5 are extras if the area tkgp's are already used.

S-EMPRE ( referred to as empres ) is Dispatch coordination with Paramedic trucks for staffing moves to areas around the county.

SXPM01 and SXPM02 is for Ems supervisor to communicate with the field units ( medic trucks and associated personnel)

Hospital tkgp's are for hospital consults patch for patient information

Last are the station tkgp's which are used for events example in house training or large community events

Sussex mutual aid are used often for countywide events or multi-agency response. Example missing person my use S-IOP1 because fire, police, State parks, beach patrol all maybe involved. Its a good idea to have all IOPS, SSXMA1 and 2 and OCMD and Worcester Patch.

The Sussex sites also have Cape May Lewes Ferry, State parks Beach Patrol, and DNR Police

Rehoboth uses their own system so they utilized their own tkgp's.

Seaford now uses the Sussex County tkgp's

Suscom ( state and local police dispatch ) are all encrypted.

On the Analog side the county uses UHF for Pager dispatch 453.700 mhz and has a countywide simulcast on vhf 154.205 ( All County and Rehoboth fire/ems tkgp's). In addition some companies have their own station repeater. The Bethany / Millville fire companies utilize 453.175 mhz which monitors eastside tkgps.

I think that's it. I hope I haven't forgotten anything.

Thank you, this is a start. When you say Rehoboth has its own system, do you mean they have a separate physical system, or their own talk groups on the Delaware system / Sussex simulcast site?

The town of Rehoboth does use the Sussex county system. I meant they have their own separate dispatch center for police and fire. They use their own tkgps and Sussex county units have to switch from Fire 2 / Ems 3 to the Rehoboth fire or Ems tkgp depending on the call type. Their police dept also communicates through their own dispatch which is referred to as Rehoboth Center. You may hear a box alarm mutual aid request say
“ Rehoboth center to Sussex standby” and then the call will be dispatched. For medicals where a paramedic is requested you will hear them say
“medics requested” and then Sussex will dispatch the closets Paramedic truck. Sussex county vol fire companies , seaford and Rehoboth are only allowed by law to operate BLS units and the county provides full time paramedics in suburbans.

Wondering if Lewes, station 82, can use the Rehoboth system? Lewes is what, only a mile or 2 up the road from station 86, Rehoboth and they both share duties at Lewis/Rehoboth station 3 anyway and is Lewes also only BLS? as I thought I saw a medic truck from 82 last time I was there. I do have Rehoboth Center as one of my primary channels that I listen to when Im in town.

Do the Fire Police talk groups follow the same naming / region pattern as the Fire operational talk groups, ie. Fire Police 2 is for the East side; Fire Police 3 is Central, etc?
