I currently listen to SW frequencies with a GA-450 SW 2.30-30MHZ active loop antenna, as you can see from the photo it is a table top antenna, I'm really happy with how it works. I will shortly take delivery of a Mercedes Sprinter campervan and I wanted to know if this antenna will still work while within the vehicle or will I need to consider an external active loop.

Inside a vehicle (depends on model) is usually a very terrible place for an HF antenna. Besides being shielded from good signals, there is often interference from the car systems that the loop will not be able to defeat. You can easily try, but do not be optimistic.

Probably better off taking some coax, a baking, some insulated wire, and a handful of ground staples with you and installing a “loop-on-ground” around or adjacent to your campsite

There are many discussions on SW or other antennas for campers in their forums.
In general all "mobile" antennas can be used for camping. There are SRLs, verticals, dipols, long wire antennas...
