Sweetwater Union High School Bus freq help

Does anybody know the frequency for the sweetwater union high school district buses in chula vista i have been monitoring the transportation frequency and am not hearing any activity. I was wondering if they went digital or are possibly on the san diego county rcs. the actual frequency is listed as 857.4250 and i have been monitoring that and cannot hear a thing can anyone help :?

I believe they're on the RCS. Did you check the database?

I did check the database and the talkgroup is not listed and i was wondering if you know the talkgroup.

No, I don't. Many of the school districts are not identified as most don't listen to them. Keep in mind Sweetwater should only be on the South or South and some selected East sites.

I have not heard them on the RCS South.
They probably are using a conventional 800 MHz frequency. This was the case with the other school districts in east county before they joined the RCS. Search between 850-865 MHz in the mornings are around 2:00PM to see what you can find.

Also can you confirm they actually have radios installed in the buses?

yes they do have radios installed in the buses because i have heard them before but i am not hearing them on the frequency at all now.the frequency is 857.425 and I have been monitoring that and am not hearing anything. And their call sign is wnby264 and why does it say nextel of california.

Looks like they sold their frequency to Nextel. And if their traffic isn't on the RCS then they're probably on Nextel radios now. That seems to be most logical.

do they have a rcs talkgroup and if they do does anyone know it.

If they used the RCS it would be known. I monitor all unknown talkgroups on the RCS South Cell every day (and record them) and have not heard Sweetwater school district on it.

As the other user suggested they might be on Nextel. I guess the best way to find out would be to ask the bus driver if they use Nextels or to drive by the school with a BC246T using Close Call and see if you catch any traffic.

I used to live in sunny San Diego not that long ago (La Mesa to be exact). I don't remember 100% for certain, but I believe the frequency is 863.0 or 864.0 MHz. I used to have them in my conventional frequency bank. I found the frequency in an edition of San Diego 'SCAN FAN' frequency directory, but I gave it away when I moved. Let me know what you find out.

As a former San Diegan, I had confirmed 857.425 in the summer of 2004 DPL 532 for Sweetwater school district. If they aren't on that freq any longer and not on the RCS, figure Nextel.

There's no such thing as standard voice dispatching on microwave radio. Microwave radio is for point-to-point transmission of digital payload (ie., DS-1, DS-3, etc).

They're either sharing someone's system, running conventional, or using Nextel.
