Yeah it is pretty neat to listen to.... certainly not the everyday comms that you get used to.

Sure, that would be great. I've got a collection of frequencies from over the years but I doubt it's very current.

I got so many request to email this to people I think i will just post them here. I had 300 freq. on my radio and I marked the following as the most used. Through the winter they are not that busy but one the weather changed that will also change.

P.S. Monitoring Times has the 2010 military airshow schedule out and lot of good freq. in it.

Also and excellent site to go to Michigan Radio Discussion Form click on Topic Threads of Intrest and go to the military threads or just go here.
They will keep you updated to the day.

moon bounce,
Are those frequencies partial to your neck of the woods or do they carry country wide? I am on Cape Cod, Ma. Thanks.

Frequencies are for South Western Ont, some maybe good for your area but my suggestion to you would be to get this months Monitoring Times magazine, it should be of great help to you.

One more thing to consider is turning up the squelch, it helps to bring in the signal cleared once you start hearing them.

Thanks for sharing those... I'll dump them in my radio and give them a go. Perhaps we should have a wiki/collaboration page started up to keep these on.

I used to monitor some selfridge ops a few years back I would like to get back into that this spring
I have an old bc895 & a yeasu vx6 im programming for milair
I would think to start with the freqs here ...Selfridge A.N.G. Base Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Selfridge ANGB - The RadioReference Wiki

& check here often http://forums.radioreference.com/michigan-radio-discussion-forum/43974-military-activity-10.html

I used to catch a little of the F-16s practicing intercepts, most days , I wonder if since the A-10s are designed to operate at lower levels
this will reduce what I will be able to hear from Windsor....

Ya know what sucks also though, is living less then 20 kms from CFB Trenton and not hearing ANYTHING on UHF MilAir frequencies.

I've setup searches in my radio at different times and have come up with nothing, the only time I did hear anything was during the airshow last summer and that's about it.

I do however do hear regular VHF comms daily though from CFB Trenton.

I don't know about Trenton, but the military at the Selfrige seem to do manouvers at least once a week, sometimes at night some times thru the day. I think that Cold Lake Alberta is where the Canadian military does all of there training.

Just heard what sounded like call sign "Loma 31 " calling Det approach on 363.200

Location : Windsor Ontario
Time : 3:45 pm
Date March 08 2010
Freq: 363.2 am

I'm also hearing something on 139.620 sounds like 2 AC talking about comms & approaches
but it almost sounds as if its wrong mode , I cant remem if I can get my 898 into am mode
am wondering if it may be an image frequency as I cant seem to get it when I hook my 396 to the antenna & change the mode

When I used to hear the F-16s they would usually go out twice a day , once in the morning & once in the afternoon.
Maybe if we log some catches we can get a picture of the activity schedule

I used my yaesu VX6r Yaesu VX-6R VX6R Amateur HT
last summer sometimes with a homebrew dipole
& that little handheld performs great for milair

Listening a bit before work , same Det App freq again,..

"Demon 1 to DET App we are a flight of 2 alpha 10's "

About 10 minutes later I could hear them coordinating maneuvers
on 139.620,... appears to come in clear in AM mode

Also related activity on 228.125 ,234.9

Time 9;24 am
Date March 10
Freq :363.2 AM , 139.620 AM,139.975 AM,228.125 AM ,234.9 AM
Location:Windsor Ontario

Now at 9:56 AM am hearing callsigns Sting active in 139.975
I think they are talking about comms ? saying everything works until they push to bravo

Just to add to this.....yesterday (Tuesday) around 4PM I was waiting for my train at Union Station standing on the platform and noticed 2 VERY fast moving trails flying somewhat over the city of toronto going towards lake ontario. I know they were military as they were seperated and could see 2 individual planes....What they were, was hard to tell. They did appear to have a single engines however (Just from the trails) I saw. I monitor MilAir occasionally as you never know whos passing through!

Any idea what they could be?

They use the 139 to 144 Mhz am mode once they get into the area they want to practice in. I think that if you can capture one of those frequencies you will hear a lot more on them than you will in UHF.
One other one I would like to add is 139.625 Mhz.

Im not sure what exact area the A-10s practice in Greyling range?, I thought i wouldnt hear much with the A-10s as I thought they operated at lower levels , So far when I have heard them however the signals have been quite strong & clear ...from Windsor
