I think the cc was 383.675. I was driving westbound on Rt7 up the mountain just prior to Blueridge Mountain Rd when it locked on this. I didn't receive anything on my way back east this afternoon. I'll have to hang out near Mt Weather one day to see what I can find.

I may go up there on Mt. Weather this weekend and see what I can find too. if it is located on Mt. Weather, that would explain why I can hear it at home and work. do you know what road to take to go over the mountain to RT50? if you do, there is a tower on the backside on the left.

I mentioned this a few times on other forums, but about 1-2 months ago I say DHS vans (the license were DHS) with tower hardware on a trailer on RT340 in Berryville turning onto RT7 West.

Interesting -- Sys ID 007-0101 is (?also?) used at the Fort Meade site of the J-NCR TRS, is it possible that you were hearing it with all the skip/ducting lately?

As far as I'm aware Mt Weather isn't a DOD facility and shouldn't (key word) be using this piece of DOD Spectrum (380-399.999).

off topic but this needs to be said:

as far as I am aware, DoD could be there. Mt. Weather is like Area 51 in some aspects. unless you work there, you probably don't know what's going on there. even the people that work there have to be escorted from one place to another. do a Google on Mt. Weather and a plane crash in (I think) 1974. do you want to bet where some VIPs were on Sept. 11th? why does the President go there from time to time? why is everything underground? FEMA IS there but why couldn't DoD? why do they have their own fire dept? FEMA, DoD, FBI... most everyone falls under DHS now so who knows. try to go over the fence and see what happens. I have a feeling your family will not hear from you for a long time.

if you look on FEMA's site for job postings, for Mt. Weather it says Round Hill, VA which is in Loudoun County, VA. Mt. Weather is in Clark County, VA and closer to Berryville, VA. there is a mailbox for the facility that is in Bluemont, VA. I have not been able to find that info on FEMA's site. the sites below will give you some info. take them with a grain of salt but with an open mind. also check out Sugar Grove, WV and google for "Echelon". also check out HAARP. I don't believe there are little green men on Mt. Weather, but I do think it's more then everyone is lead to believe.

Mount Thunder....

I did "Google" Mt. Weather.....WOW.....there is some good reading there. Most of it seems like it could be true, although I'm not inclined to believe the underground rail system, from D.C. to The Mountain. Being a local to Mt. Weather, it is kinda cool to see how the rest of the world views the place.

As a side note: Last year, I had to dispatch one of my heavy duty wreckers up there, to tow a F.E.M.A. Command bus to a local dealer for repairs. Man, talk about a hard place to get into. It took me 6-7 phones calls, a company letter head fax, waited for return calls, 1 day notice & so on.....my driver didn't want anything to do with this call......LOL

Go ahead & google it......you will read some interesting "facts"....well maybe... :)

I'm going to be passing over the mountain several times over the weekend so I'll see if I can replicate my results. How good were skip conditions around 7am yesterday? I was in my truck using a BC396T with a Radioshack 800mhz antenna.

There is far more than FEMA happening up there and that's without looking hard. HMX-1 flights c/s MUSSELL regularly fly up there during the week, mornings and at night. I've also seen, and heard on my scanner the NIGHTHAWK flights of CH-46s from HMX-1 and a ROSS flight of two FBI Blackhawks heading up there. The ROSS flight was really low and moving much faster than any other helo traffic I've seen. The BICE Blackhawk has also made some stops there as well.

The MUSSELL flights talk to their CONTROL on 292.2. The freq for the "tower" at the Bluegrass Special Facility aka Mt. Weather is 241.0, the ATIS which is really weak is 242.375. I also hear them with IAD tower on 128.425/120.1 and DCA 120.75. With Potomac approach on 120.45 after leaving and heading towards Leesburg.

Yesterday on my way west in the evening I stopped at Rt7 and Snickersville Turnpike.
Here's what I could receive.

00D-0101 380.125
001-0101 381.125
001-0202 380.45
001-0909 386.3125
001-1616 380.8875
002-0101 381.625
009-0101 380.275
14C-0401 385.675
17A-0101 385.2125
"Los Angeles Util" 381.4125
"LT System" 386.425
"LT System" 386.3125

And from Winchester I locked on to 408.225 displaying "LT System". Also got to listen to the WV statewide TRS for the first time.

I went up Mt. Weather earlier today and here's what I found:

387.675
0001h-0909

380.125
000Dh-0101

380.8875
0001h-1616

some that sounded like digital but I am not sure:
407.4125
410.225
406.85

also found 406.5875 analog. they were security for something. the signal was a little faint. I heard them mention a hanger and a delivery. also talked about pizza from Jerry's. I guess it was Jerry's Subs and Pizza. the closest is in Winchester.

I sat on the side of the road before I got to the top of the mountain in the driveway of a new house (very nice so far). I sat there for about 20mins and was getting nervous.

the attached picture is just what I could get while driving. I was going to take a few of the entrance but there were a few blue SUVs going over the bridge. on the side opposite the entrance (going from RT7) and little bit down from it was a truck with a trailer parked at a large building. there is a new stop light at the top right at the entrance of the facility. it was not on though.

This morning I heard some different stuff. I could also receive most of everything from before. It's amazing how much can be heard up there. Sure would be nice to live around there.

407.15 "Andrews AFB" belonging to http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=186

408.9 "NITA Federal" showing 2 bars
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=416

410.425 "NIH" showing 5 bars
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=417

406.4 BC0A-001 showing 2 bars http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=4663

385.7125 displaying "Signal Hill"
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=4698

380.45 "1-09-227" LT System Unidentified

386.96250 001-0303 and 381.1875 001-0808 So almost every tower from this system can be received up there.

387.225 00A-0101
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=4662

385.8625 "MOT System" Unidentified

freqhopping:

where were you sitting (if you were)? what equipment were you using and how were you knowing what type of system it was that you were receiving? digital is a little new to me (less then 6 months with the Uniden 396T), but I have been using scanners for for about 15+ years.

I pulled off Rt 7 onto Snickersville Turnpike. I'm using a BCD396T with the Radio Shack 800mhz antenna. I have searches set for 406-420 and 380-390 with the "Set C-Ch Only" option On. These IDs are what the scanner displays when it sits on a control channel. Normally I just get something like 0001-0101 or whatever, but sometimes there is an actual name like "Signal Hill". I still want to know what the "Los Angeles Util" system is on 380.425/381.4125, I have yet to actually hear some comms.

Just found another surprise while I'm typing. Apparently it's the Ft Detrick system. Control channel is 385.8, ID is 006-0101. I usually can't even hear the Frederick Co TRS. Ducting I suppose.
