(Sorry for the long post). I have been successfully programming my 396xt and 996xtp2 for several years. Recently the Missouri P25 system has grown to the extent it is time to implement procedures to temporarily lockout and unlock neighboring counties due to the system just being too busy. If a TGID (Talk Group ID) is programmed, it will be received in SCAN ID mode when a system is active. Further is using SCAN SEARCH everything will be received. I would like to program neighboring county TGIDs so they will display but only when I believe something is going on there. For example a pursuit leaves my county into a neighboring county. My method has been to create a new P25 System with a new quick key assigned. I then added one transmitter and all the TGIDs for the neighboring counties. It seemed to work when I was at home on my base installed 996 but when mobile when I got out of range of the programmed single transmitter, the TGIDs text no longer displayed and I was using SCAN SEARCH. Can anyone think of a way to turn off unwanted TGIDs so I can use SCAN ID to limit unwanted traffic but still enable them when desired? 73

my quick answer would be to just add separate systems with the unwanted ones not on scan.
you can copy and make as many as the radio can hold.
i would help more, but i don't do quick key anything.
my county is in my radio twice.
one with everything allowed and one with just the sheriff so even then i can quickly lock out a couple if needed.
our system has 4 dispatch TGs. so it is easy.

I would create separate systems for each adjacent county. Then assign System Quick Keys, each system with its own System Quick Key. You can turn on/off the adjacent counties as desired. I think that's what you are doing.

Usually when you are attempting to "listen" to a talkgroup, but get outside of the transmitter coverage area (thus losing the control channel) you get the message "Finding Control Channel".

Thanks to you both. I created two systems, one with the extra counties and one without. I did have to put the tower sites in both or it would not work.
