System Requirements for Live Streaming

What are the system requirements for the computer hosting the feed? Will it run on a UNIX or Linux server? Also, can I host multiple feeds from one computer with multiple sound cards?

The first part was answered so I will answer the second part:

Yes you can run several feeds from one computer.
Many feeds owners do.
You will need a separate sound card for each feed.
Sound cards can be internal or USB.
You will need a separate install of the streaming software for each feed.
Place each install is a different directory.
