Hello all,

I know this is irregular but bear with me...

I live in Australia, and have recently bought a Pro-2096. The "T" adaptaplug used by this scanner is not available in Australia.

Does anyone have any ideas where I would be able to get one or two?

Thanks

I used the slightly smaller D plug and cut a slot in the outside surface to allow it to fit. Works great. Slot can be cut with Dremel tool with abrasive disk or thin saw

The original adaptaplug with the small center pin is the "D" plug. This plug fits the GRE/Radio Shack scanner Pro 2053. It is slightly too small to fit the connection on the Pro 2096. Cutting the slot on the "D" plug allows it to expand slightly and it goes on with a slight push. The slot is only cut on one side of the silver outside surface of the plug.

The 2096 comes with an AC adapter with the correct plug. It also comes with another correct plug attached to bare wires and a fuse. You can attach the latter to anything you like. Are you not able to use one of those two plugs for some reason? Or are you needing even more plugs? (Okay, okay, it's a silly question on my part. Answer must be you need even more.)

Maybe someone could pick up a few to send to you. It may cost a little for shipping, but you should get them when you can. I plan on buying a few, and I don't own a 2096 yet

You may want to hurry if you are going to buy a T adaptaplug. In "DOH!" moment, it seems that RS has recently discontinued it.

So far all of my local stores have lots of them. I'm picking up a few next week.

The problem with the supplied AC power supply is that it uses 110V, where as we use 240V in Australia.
Bummer. I didn't realize they used a cheap 110V only design -- how typical. I wish these cheapscape manufacturers would instead cater to the fact that we live and travel on planet Earth; that we're not permanently chained down in podunk Nebraska, even if we happen to live there.

The Radio Shack site lists the "C" tip as the correct one for the Pro-96. If you look at the listing for the radio, they have some suggested accessories and they show the "C" tip, not the "T" tip.

Not having a Pro-96 I don't know if that's correct, but I thought I'd provide the information, just in case someone wants to check it out.

I thought the discussion was concerning the PRO-2096? The PRO-2096 is the desktop/mobile version of the PRO-96. It's physically somewhat different than a PRO-96. The PRO-96 requires the "C" tip whereas the PRO-2096 requires the "T" tip. I gather someone earlier wrote that the "T" tip was either discontinued or difficult to get in Australia?

As Emily Latella used to say, "Never mind"! I thought it was originally a Pro 96 thread.

When a scanner is marketed to a USA market, there is no need for exotic requirements. The fact that people want to use them elsewhere is why YOU need to buy an adapter. The scanner isn't made to be sold or used in Australia.
