• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

press release yesterday May 15th from FCC chair stating implementation of UHF T band giveback is a “bad idea”.

…and the FCC knows a LOT about bad ideas. 800MHz rebanding, anyone? 900MHz rejiggering for Anterix? LightSquared/Ligado on top of GPS?

I agree, the T-band thing was stupid since day 1. But the FCC properly acting on a "bad idea" has not proven to be their strong point. All it'll take is someone with enough money to pay the FCC to get what they want.

What was so wrong with the NexTel "White Paper" 800 MHz rebanding plan? The mess that that band was prior to rebanding created havoc for everybody operating on that chunk of RF spectrum. Sure NexTel doesn't exist anymore - thanks, I've always believed, in part to rebanding and the expenses they took on to pull it off; but, if the Commission is going to take any blame re: 800 MHz, I'd venture to say it would be for not foreseeing the need to slice up the band correctly in the first place - thus creating the need for rebanding it in 2001. Now...900 MHz...that's a different story. Wow, what a mess created in that band....

With that said gentlemen... the Federal Communications Commission can not take the blame for the UHF T-Band giveback scheme. Remember, it was our greedy Congress, through the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, that told the FCC to auction off the UHF T-band to raise revenue for the national government.

All over the map.
Correct, FCC is not to blame for the T-Band fiasco.

100%, it was absolutely the lawmakers and lobbyists. The funniest part of the whole thing is at the end of the day, their potential bidders for the bandwidth didn't even want it. Mobile broadband was never going to use T-band, and there was never even a chance of any aspect of 5G sinking that low on the band charts.

The whole thing, besides being dumb, was pointless.
