Was listening to CPS A6 and heard a unit call Tango839. Anyone heard this call sign before and now who it is that was assisting them?? They where doing a high risk T stop.

Yes, I have heard these "T" callsigns especially during vehicular events eg, pursuits, stolen V's etc. another in Downtown recently was "Tango124" perhaps a designation for specialized Traffic units.

CPS traffic units are 4400-series units. Tac team, before anyone gets an idea about that, is 4300-series.

I have a listing of all the unit identifiers somewhere... I should try to dig it up.

Just a thought: On the PACS radios, Sheriffs will identify themselves as Tango units....

Got lucky today and ran into a friend of mine who is a CPS member and filled me in on what the Tango units are. Tango in front of the call sign is a trainie officer. IE some one who has just come out of the training program.
