This has been brought up in another forum, but this is probably where i'll get the help.

I'm running the newest release of T4 on Windows XP, and it locks up all the time. Every time I restart, I have to re-enter all of the system information. Is there any way to load what I have saved? Or do I just have to deal with it until UniTrunker makes it out?

Thanks!
Justin

If you have a system saved just start the scanner, open t4win and before you hit the run button do a file open and open the file you have saved. Then click the run button. T4win will not auto open a presaved xml file as far as I know. If you just start the program and hit the run button it will think it is a new system. Open the file, highlight it and then hit the run button to start the decoder. Note there is a known bug on Edacs systems that even tho you have the file open t4win will still think its a new system, and ask you to enter the frequency.

I don't think Rick has worked on this program for almost a year. He has been devoting his time to the UniTrunker project (and real life of course), which we all hope to see come out in beta shortly (hint-hint). I am not sure if he will ever go back to T4Win. The program was never released as a completed project and does not function in many areas and has several known problems in the areas that it does function.

Thanks for the info on the EDACS, that is one I was unaware of but will file away for future reference. :)

Yes Lou, I know. I have been sitting here on pins and needles waiting. I check here quite often to see if it has showed up yet.

To Justin.
I don't know what could be the problem with it crashing on you. I have no problems with it here on the Gwinnett Co. type II SmartNet system, works great. Running WinXP Pro. Other people have had the same problem.

That's been a highly requested feature for some time now.

Yes ... I think T4Win also fails to recognize EDACS narrow systems. Automatically recognizing EDACS systems is very dicey because the system id isn't unique ... the safe thing to do is to either (a) prompt the user for the control channel frequency and search for an existing system that already has that channel (and matching EDACS system id) or (b) force the user to specify the EDACS system ahead of time.

T4Win was trying to do both ... and not succeeding much of the time. Motorola worked a bit better if only because the system id is *almost* unique.

This is working much better on UniTrunker - improvements which will eventually benefit T4Win.
