Hey all, hope this isn't hashing over old news. I browsed a bunch of the topics to see if my answer was there first.

I spent about 8 or 9 hours today running T4Win 0.94.0.0 beta on a 6 site 800mhz Smartzone system. I was mobile for the most part, and visited all six sites ultimately. The source radio is a Maxtrac, freshly re-wired (apparently my original hack job sucked  ) - the computer running T4Win is a HP 2.6ghz laptop with 512mb RAM, MSXML3+, XP Home, etc.

I created the XML file for my system myself, by looking at the format of an older XML file from when I used the software last year. (It was fairly easy to take the Excel workbook with my talkgroups, frequencies, and radio IDs, and make a worksheet that laid it all out in the format the XML file expects, then cut and paste into a text file, removing the tab characters on the way.)

Anyway, here are a couple of observations/questions.

1. When I click on the Affiliations icon, I see nothing listed there at all, regardless if I'm on the main site's entry, or one of the six actual sites. However, when going into the RadioID page on the main site entry, there are "last seen" times for radios I know did not transmit on the system. So I'm assuming affiliations are being trapped, but either I've forgotten how to view them, or something's wrong. Anyone got any advice?

2. Sometimes I noticed either a talkgroup ID without the radio ID which was clearly talking on the channel (as proven by my issue radio, operating on the system in question), or with the radio ID of someone other than the last user. Often, for example, I would see a rig call dispatch, and dispatch answer, but the rig's radio ID would stay on screen. I've seen similar quirks show up on the actual issued radios themselves, so I'm wondering, is this a shortcoming of the Motorola system structure, or am I just not getting a complete decode of the signal, or what?

At this hour, that's about all that I can remember that I intended to comment. I may supply more later as I recall it. :)

Double check your version number. I think we're up to 0.94.0.7 or 0.94.0.8.

This is a confirmed bug.

This is a bug in the most recent versions. The program did not decode UHF/VHF systems correctly. An attempt to fix this did not work. That's one of the reasons T4Win is still in beta (pre-1.0 release).

I can't commit to a definite time line as to when these will be fixed. I've got other commitments/distractions to address first.

Regards,
Rick

Oddness.. it is .0.8 - I even redownloaded it and installed into a new directory after wiping out the old one - but the Help>About screen shows .0.0 beta. The _t4winprefs.xml says .0.8 as well.

OK. Is it working as I suspected - that the "last seen" tag in the RadioID section is including affiliations? One of the things I'm doing right now would be helped out greatly by knowing who's affiliating, to the system overall if not to each site. :)

I just found a thread on the boards where you discuss something similar, with regards to 'continuations'. That's what I thought was happening to me. Like I said, I even see it with my professional, dedicated radios.. when we're trying to grab a radio ID, it has become automatic to tell people "Wait five seconds and then key your mic"...

No worries from here. I appreciate and enjoy the work you've put into this so far - watching the radio IDs and such scroll by yesterday was great. I even think I uncovered a few new frequencies I didn't know about.

Now if I can figure out a way to receive the signal at my house ~30 miles from the nearest tower... :)

Be careful some of those may be false channels caused by the bug described above.
