Hello...

I just started to use this "T4WIN"
here in Ottawa the FD are using Edacs not sure if it is 48 or 96.

and do I use the control channel : 866.3375 (site 1)

and another one: how do I find the Edacs System key !

what is Sysid ? and Site

no my scanner is the pro-2051 and there is no known discrimminator tap yet.

or is there an easier alternate software to T4win ?

Thanks.

I looked up the Ottawa public saftey TRS on the DB and it doesn't say, but more than likely it is a 9600 baud (EDACS wide) system.

If you hear data (digital grinding noise) on the frequency then yes use than one.

According to the DB there is no need to worry about ESK. This particular EDACS system is "standard".

It stands for system ID. Each TRS has a Sysid. The Sysid is not in the DB either so I don't know what it is, but once you get T4win or something else working on it, the program will tell you the Sysid of that site.

You're first sentence indicates you are only able to use decoding software that uses a soundcard for input. There are two other choices you have if you find T4win not working for you. One is UNITrunker, and the other is ETrunker ported for windows (probably the easiest to use). Good luck and happy decoding Steve :p

Trying to get anything useful from an EDACS software decoder without a
discriminator tap is basically a non-starter. Also, not sure what you would
need a system key for, certainly not to monitor the system on a scanner
or using decoder S/W.

Ottawa EDACS like all others in the 850MHz band is WIDE (normal)
9600 type. The site numbers shown in the Database are the system IDs,
0001 and 0007.

Hey Dave thanks for picking up my mistake there. :)

Somehow I had mistaken his "no discriminator tap" for "no slicer", and before anyone asks, no I don't do drugs.

As far as his ESK question goes, I think he was reading some threads about the San Antonio EDACS system where the CC runs ESK and you would need to run the ESK flavor of Etrunker.

Richster.
