Why Ct transit come up on the system
I don’t see TG 1503 listed under transit. It’s an interoperability channel, supposedly available to all in the public safety groups and assigned as needed. Maybe there are busses assigned to the fire for transporting firefighters to and from the fire and their staging area? If they still follow the rules when I was a district fire warden they are required to rotate their crews in and out for food (which was every four hours) and rehab.

I did wonder about that one.
I noticed that I've only logged a handful of radios with a 44xxx ID rather than the typical 45xxx CT Transit uses, so it's entirely possible that this range of ID's is for something else (Town of Avon?) and my tagging is wrong for that particular one.

You are probably right maybe Connecticut transit has that channel but you do see in his list Connecticut transit popping up
I’m guessing he hasn’t excluded those transit TG’s. And why would he list Troop B? That’s in Canaan. I added TG 1503 this morning to the DEEP TG’s, labeled it as INTEROP TAC A BERLIN FIRE and chose Interoperability as the type. When the fire is extinguished I’m just going to Avoid that TG until the next time and change the label.

I entered a few TG’s in anticipation of Avon coming on board. I used 10401, 10402, 10403, 10411 and 10412. I believe I got the right town tax code number and followed what Newington is using for their fire dispatch (19411). So far I’ve not heard anything for Avon. I sent out a few requests to the Deputy Chief in Avon (who is heading up the effort-he’s also a ham) but got zero replies. My guess is they aren’t close enough to assign the TG’s, so he has nothing to reply.

If Ct. Transit is using that TG, it was probably done by over-the-air programming. I believe CLMRN has that ability to do that remotely. When they don’t need it anymore they will remove it… but I’m just guessing.

Troop B Is the site (012 (C)) that I am tuned into.

The traffic was all on talkgroup 1503

All subscribers on the network (are supposed to) have the interop template which includes tac A

I’m thankful for your being there. Just stay safe. Back in the day I was riding with Butch Corbige, DEP in pickup truck 3-9. We were in Wolcott chasing the kids day after day and putting out their fires. On one occasion Butch told me not to suppress a fire that was just across the street in Waterbury. One side of the street was Wolcott and the other side was Waterbury. He explained Waterbury didn’t contribute to some state program which made them ineligible for fire suppression from the State Forestry. Butch told me that Waterbury was aware of the fire and would put it out once it got to the road or it threatened property. Waterbury didn’t see the need to hike into the woods when they could wait for it to come to them. But this was one seperate incident. Waterbury could have been busy elsewhere or didn’t have the resources to kill an afternoon on minor brush fires. But on that one particular day, we extinguished only that which was on the Wolcott side of the street.

More troopers and search and rescue task force, fire coordinator and national guard

Looks like they are also using (or at least preparing to use) Tac B as well

Radio ranges are not always only the main users, 180xxxx is mostly CSP but not all. There are many cache radios being used at the fire.
Here is an old pic of some CT USAR radios on one of their vehicles back in 2016. CTS has many more than this available.
