I live in Robeson County North Carolina. It has 33 rural fire departments and is a very busy county as far as outside fires. They page out on Rob county fire one and then they assign a tac channel to that incident. Also each tac channel has an ops channel as well. Tac 1/ Ops 1 and so on. Five tac channels are not enough for this busy county so they are adding 5 more tac channels and corresponding ops channels for a total of ten tac channels. I have to program a scanner for my sister-in-law how do I know if these tac channels are in the Radio Reference database, so she can hear the chatter on the tac and ops channels. Any help will be appreciated.

5 Tac channels are ID'ed in the database for your county. Anything higher than that (if existent) hasn't been ID'ed & submitted to the database yet. If you want to try your hand at ID'ing them yourself, enable ID Search if your scanner allows it and take note of any unknown talkgroup that comes up with fire-related activity (be sure you have all known fire talkgroups programmed in first so they don't come up as unknowns)
