Taking a trip to san antonio

Hello All,
I will be going to san antonio for the air show. I will be taking my BCD436HP (with provoice and DMR). While I plan to monitor the air show (Air Boss, Thundersbirds and Blue Angels), Kelly Field Annex and KSAT Tower frequencies. I also plan on Monitoring the San Antonio / Bexar County EDACS system. I will be coming in I10 from bourne so I have programmed in the BLUE & GOLD simulcast sites, BCSO, Constables, BCFA, SAPD Patrol & Traffic (West, South, Central and Prue) and SAFD talk groups. Are those the only two sites I need to monitor the EDACS system?
I am also wanting to monitor Med-Com/Airlife traffic. So far I have:

Airlife Bexas County (TGID 1356)
Airlife University Hospital DMR (152.3225 CC10 TG6)

What is the difference between the DMR and P25 channels? Also, Is there a Patch to VMED28 on the San Antonio/Bexar County EDACS system?

Thanks to the hard work of many, SA is a great place to monitor as opposed to Houston or Ft. Worth, Texas.

I don't know how to answer the question regarding channel differences with PV & DMR. Both have talk groups/channels to monitor. With the 436HP, I was able to save my sanity by listening to DMR when I was coerced into going to that highly-annoying fish pond, Sea World. Too many brats! The DMR system there worked very well.

I would read the Wiki on the SA system. Be advised, SA is migrating to a new P25 system. When I was visiting in the recent past, I heard some fantastic surveillance transmissions on one of the EDACS Vice channels. Oh, yes, SA has great reception. I am going to bow out and let some of the SA locals help you with this.

The Gold and Blue sites are best heard as you get south of 1604 coming from Boerne. the Hill Country and Grey Forest sites are good as you get into Bexar County from Boerne.

Airlife is dispatched on the P25 and DMR channels, which there really is no difference in the two except the mode.

The Airlife channels on the City system are used for LZ control by fire departments

While San Antonio wants to migrate to a P25 system the money just isn't there from what I have heard and they are barley taking bids on a new system. The EDACS system will be around for awhile longer past the end of life. A lot of agencies have recently upgraded radios to the XG-75. The 700 mhz P25 overlay system is just so they can be P25 compliant and only State agencies use it to access the EDACS system. DPS etc...I have heard they are they only ones with permission to use it.

Are they simulcasted or does the P25 serve one purpose and the DMR serve another?

As far as med-com goes, are they just the flight coordination service on VMED28 (155.3400)? Do they have any talkgroups on the EDACS system?
