Page 21 of 44 in this document says that the TALKAROUND channel is a conventional channel. Page 36 of 44 mentions two TALKAROUND channels. I dont see either listed in the database. Anyone have more info? Perhaps they are the ICall channel (866.0125 or 851.0125), or a ITAC channel? Peter Sz

PS - the document is users guide to the Motorola XTS5000 portable radio.

It would be highly unusual for the system to be using any of the NPSAC frequencies for a talkaround channel. I agree that the TA frequency is not shown in the database though.

Talkaround Channels for Albemarle County

Hi, I am a volunteer firefighter for Charlottesville that works on their scanners. The talkaround channels are known, but have not been published. I am trying to work with the chiefs to get that information in their scanners and perhaps published. I'll let you know what happens.

Hi and welcome Blue Moon:

I have heard fire units switch to talkaround and so far have not determined the freq. I have never been close enough to a scene to use signal stalker. We could assume that (a) there is a license and (b) it is in the 800 range in order to be used on the portables. I know the chief is a big in the whole national fire scene and is well respected.

I know the police have tactical channels on 800 analog repeaters, they get used at Foxfield twice a year, and I heard them used during a city/county manhunt once or twice. They don't show up at fire scenes as far as I know.

BTW, I live within 3 or 4 stone throws of HQ over in Belmont, I hear it every time they roll and I grab the scanner. Welcome again to RR.

Talkaround TGs for Albemarle Co

Hi GCGrotz, I hadn't thought about using a signal stalker to try and figure out what the talkaround is. The PSR-500 has that doesn't it? Anyway, I'll let you know if I get anymore information.

Thanks, that would be good. I don't hear it used very often.

Had a big fire across the street from me a couple years ago, they didn't use it then, but they did take up 2 TAC channels for it.

Well it has "Spectrum Sweeper" which is essentially the same as signal stalker.
