I am heading down for the race next weekend and was trying to find the skywarn weather frequencies for the Talladega / Lincoln area. I can'f find anything in the database. Can anyone help?
There is an ARES repeater on 146.805 / PL131.8 - Also, I noted that the link that I had logged for the greater Birmingham area SkyWarn home page is no longer active. Just take along a NOAA NWS 162.40 - 162.55 alert radio and hope for the best.
Perhaps an email to the club in Birmingham might net you some additional info:
I see that RevGary has already given you a repeater frequency in the Talladega area and you’ve probably already found a few more for around here but here is the frequencies/offset/PL tones for the ones in the immediate area.
Talladega 146.805- PL131.8
146.745- PL131.8
Anniston 146.780-
147.090+ PL131.8
Pell City 145.130- PL103.5
I live in Anniston and just happen to be off that weekend, should be an interesting scanning adventure too!!!
UPDATE: Rain and thunderstorms forecasted for the area today. Could be a washout and the severity of the storms could possibly get the Storm Spotters in the areas east of Montgomery and Birmingham involved today. Keep your NOAA Weather Radios handy... and somebody please tell Tony "Mr. Agressive" Stewart that the tires are supposed to face DOWN toward the track pavement, not UP... LOL.
Yep... It was a washout today but I sure have had fun listening to my scanner to all the action going on. On an even better note, I took and passed my Amateur Technicians exam today!

Nice to see that a non-agressive driver (Jimmie Johnson) won the Cup Race. He and the team have been doing a good job for the past couple of years. Now, most teams will be off to the Lowes Motor Speedway for mid week tire testing on the new track surface and then on to Ridhmond for a door banging Saturday night short track race... never boring!
