Tallmadge getting new radio's

Has anyone heard if or when monroe fallls / mogadore/ tall will be getting new radios

Doubtful any time soon. They just set up the repeater on 159.150 (police) and 155.145 (fire/EMS) a few years back.

There is no regulation that they have to be digital or 800, and if you ask me, they are better off not in the 800 band.

800 MGHZ DIGITAL

800 MHZ and Digital are just not very compatible yet. HAMCO is a prime example!! If anyone has listened too Hamilton County lately you know what I'm referring to. It's a good system but still alot of flaws. Akron / Summit County is the same way too.

Hamilton County is still working the bugs out on the sync of the towers and the modulation. Akron/Summit County works just fine with no problems unless you're on the outer fringes of reception range of one of the towers.

Tallmadge Fire

Per a friend of mine who is with Tallmadge FD, the goal is for all county departments to eventually get on the Akron/Summit System. The big problem, of course, is the money. As the Homeland Security money gets passed around, it will happen. Cuyahoga Falls has announced that they want no part of the Akron/Summit System and want a new system of their own, which I'm sure surprises no one. They would probably overload the Akron/Summit System with all their traffic stops!

The plan includes adding some new towers to really have full county coverage as the money comes in and the county FD's join the system. I have found the coverage to be very good using the BC 250 and PRO 96 all over the county as it presently stands.
Friends with Akron FD and PD are happy with the system.

There's enough frequencies, right now, between Richfield, Bath, Barberton, and Green systems to add them to the 'countywide' system. Cuyahoga Falls could still have their own system and have it tied in to the Summit County system since they use Akron FD quite a bit for mutual aid purposes...

I used to live in Akron and remember the nickname Cuyahoga Falls had for years "Ticket City".
