Two separate 800 MHz public-safety communications systems — One from Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications and one from Motorola Solutions — will be used to coordinate communications during the Republican National Convention in August.

The 2012 Republican National Convention will host 2,286 delegates and 2,125 alternate delegates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five territories in addition to about 15,000 credentialed media. The event will be held Aug. 27 – 30 in Tampa, Fla.

If you look into the RR on here for Hillsborough County and also the item that they had in the news papers it says they are using the new system they are now setting up on the 700 mhz system. They have been testing and setting up this for the last several months, just for the RNC. This is from the Feral money that they received.

Don't get too excited.4 years ago the RNC was here Minnesota and everything was encrypted except a couple local channels

From what I have been able to find out they are not encrypting anything here, Most of the radio equipment they are getting they are going to give out after the RNC to other agencies. Nothing more then a bunch of wasted money paid for by the US tax payer. They gave a list of all the items they are buying with the money and what they are going to do with the items after it is all over.

sad thing is they said the same thing here.Then after the RNC all the tactical gear was then bought by the locals
