Lot's of CSP traffic Chris, saying maybe up to 7,000 gals of fuel spilled. Requesting more CDOT, PIO, Health Dept etc etc.

Interesting none of the media has picked it up yet.

On 02-18-09 at 6:07 A.M. Troopers responded to a single-vehicle accident on the ramp to Westbound Colorado 76 from Westbound 74th Avenue in Adams County.

A maroon truck-tractor operated by W.S.I Transportation of Henderson was hauling a tanker with a load of 8500 gallons of gasoline. The vehicle lost control on the ramp and ran off the left side of the roadway impacting a guardrail. the vehicle then rolled one-half time with the truck tractor coming to rest on its top and the tanker laying on it's side.

The tanker began leaking the gasoline cargo on impact. A large amount of the fuel was lost from the tanker before emergency responders were able to cap the tanker. Emergency crews were able to contain the spill.

The driver of the truck tractor has been identified as Julio Perez, 34 of Denver. Perez was transported to North Suburban Medical Center with minor injuries.

At this time, emergency crews are still on scene performing clean-up and recovery operations. 74th Avenue from Colorado 76 to York Street remains closed for an undetermined amount of time. Motorists can use 88th Avenue as an alternate.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
