Police Minister Felix Ellis said people who snoop on the police by listening in on their scanner communications will have to find something else to occupy their time in future.
“For all the people who listen to the police scanner, it’s time to get a life or a Netflix subscription,” Ellis said.
Wow, and I thought that scanner hobbyists were denigrated in America... my sincere sympathies to our scanning brethren--and sistren--down under. Just don't call me a hoon.

That kind of statement from Ellis underscores and exemplifies what is wrong with government in my opinion... In this country, (now 240 years old as of September 3rd) our Founding Fathers warned about government run a muck.
From today, Tasmania Police are changing their radio communications to prevent them being snooped on by criminals, hoons and anyone else with a scanner.
Question: Was this a real problem? Do you guys have a list of gangs that can be found at Wikipedia and at least five mafia families like here in the states? LOL!
And "anyone" else with a scanner... oh my...
