Staying in Memphis Tonight, Darn Starter went out again

I had a cab driver ask me for frequencies of his company, he wants to get a small handheld so when he is out of the cab he can hear dispatch.

Does anyone have a list of taxi freqs?

VHF common in the 152 range and cabs in 157. UHF could be any where. Some have their on repeater on UHF. Some could be 800 trunking. Do FCC database search. One good way is use PRO-2055 signal stalker.

ok will do, i did a cursory FCC search, not much but i know the dispatchers voice should make it easier on my 396T

First order of business would be to:

1. Get the name of his company

2. Look at the antenna on his vehicle. Is it is VHF whip or a UHF whip. Taxi companies usually run quite a bit of power.

This information would help immensely

No Prob, I go home on a semi regular basis, miss dispatching but we have plans to move to Washington State soon and set up a home there (Wooohoo My own radio room!)



actually it is cool traveling all over now an listening to all kinds of stuff
only in memphis 1 night hopefully but the new Apco system is cool

Only probem is that it is ILEGAL for a Cab driver to have a scanner in his cab ...
