Being a GMRS operator and firefighter, I programmed the new 463.1875mhz paging frequency into the gmrs radios so I can monitor the county dispatch channel. (Note I programed this as a receive only channel so I cannot accidentally key over any dispatches) This channel was great as the 700mhz is not the best where I live (uniden radio doesn't even see/hear the system when near my house) and cell coverage can be spotty in the pine barrens.

Today for some reason, the same channel seems to have either a taxi company or OceanRide services on it. I can't say it's skip since all the pick-ups/drop-off a are in county. Anyone know if the 463 will remain a pager channel or will it now be used for OceanRide. Thanks

Ocean Ride and it’s just the radio techs doing it. It hasn’t replaced 508.1875 yet so they’re still working on it.

Thanks for the reply. I know the past month it was patched to the pager channel, so the Ocean ride talkgroup was patched in for whatever reason then. Confused the heck out of me so I wanted to make sure the channel wasnt being changed before I changed the codeplug.

You are not experienced enough to know what is going on with your receiver. The paging channel you were listing to on your receiver
is being overwhelmed by strong local transmitters and a mix is happening in your receiver and has you confused.

I doubt this is the case, I monitored the channel from one end of the county to the other with the same signal strength. If the radio was being overwhelmed by local transmitters I would have seen the signal tail off after a short bit especially if they were off frequency.

I am going to go with Elias1988's explination that the county techs likely patched the channel to Ocean Ride for some sort of testing as I no longer hear the Ocean Ride traffic on the channel.

That is correct as this has happened before,I heard it on my G5 pager without the PL programmed and on my SDS200 with the PL programmed.
