Taxi companies around here are doing much of their communications by text pads in the cars. Might be the same in Halifax. Also they may have changed their frequencies and/or moved to the TMR system.

Most of the calls seem to go out via their onboard computers, so you don't get to hear them being called over the air. Usually they only talk to their dispatcher if they need something else.

Interference Question

HfxChris,

You seem pretty knowledgable, just wondering if you might have tips to trace intermittent interference we are getting on one of our mobile data frequencies (VHF).

It's quite intermittent and usually lasts for 15 minutes steady then disappears, no audible voice just dead air. Systems are band pass filtered and have not changed recently, Rx tower is fixed location North End Halifax.

Can't PM you since I just signed up and am a new member.

Hi CasinoTaxi

I'm afraid that's one area I don't know that much about, figuring out sources for interference.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Call your two way radio provider or call Industry Canada.

Thanks guys,

Have already been working with our radio shop, but given the infrequent randomness it is difficult to capture while happening.

Just thought you might have some thoughts. Have found some useful ideas online, but much of it is too technical for me.
