• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

No Tait sub-forum discussion so posting here. New to the Tait line and have a 5 site 3 Tx P25 Simulcast staging. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the transmitters are still acting like standalone repeaters and not keying from the Central Voter. No manuals found help in this either.

I'm not by any means smart when it comes to radios or simulcast and how either work, but is everything affiliated to all 5 towers/sites?

Edit. How do you like the tait radio? I just seen then a few hours ago and tried to ask a few buddies but they don't know how realible they are.

Is the CPS like moto where you have to pay by the year to use it?

I'm not on the original note of this but will give feedback on the Tait units. I've got a couple TP9400s and love them. They are very comfortable in the hand and personally feel like they're the best ergonomically of any modern P25 unit due to their smaller size. Though they're not the top for the rough fire/rescue environment, the average end user otherwise would work fine. The software is a once and done so you don't have to pay for it yearly...which you don't for Moto either, you just loose out on updates after your subscription runs out. Highly recommend!

I'm not a Tait guy, but I'm assuming all the networking is good? Failsoft usually means no communications back to the controller.

Well, as far as Motorola, you really need to keep current on software subscription if the radio is still current production and supported. They do so many radio firmware and software updates that all it would take is a radio to be sent into depot to return with a newer flash that may not work with older software.

Also, mother M doesn't particularly like bootlegged software either..

Off the top of my head, things to think about:
Does the central site voter show the other sites on the network?
Is the multicast traffic routed to the central site? Can the satellite sites get the multicast?
Is the licensing correct? Central site, other boxes are satellite sites

Ended up working through this. Key is when routing multicast IP, apparently 224.x.x.x doesnt work. Changed to a 239.x.x.x and it came right up. Feeling indifferent about them right now but will see what happens after deployment. Backup Central Voter is nice operation though.
