Sorry I am new to the digital Trunking system. I have entered the 11 frequencies for the city and the TGID's that I want to listen to. Is that all I have to enter to listen to the city or do I have to do something else.

Be more specific, TBone - lots of folks here can help if you mention which system you're hearing, and what scanner you're using. 73s Mike

Do you need help programming a specific scanner model? In the future, please go to the scanner model forums and ask. Thanks.

Post up your model and I'll move it to the correct forum.

help with trunking?

Sorry about that, I have the radio shack Pro 96 model and am trying to listen to Manchester NH which is a EDACS system. I have entered the 11 freq. and the TGID's for that city and want to know is that all I have to do to listen to them. Also I am about 30-40 miles away and am wonering if I will be able to listen to that system at home using the stock antenna? I plan on buying a home antenna for the roof, which one would work the best for my scanner?

I just looked at this system. Before you spend a lot of money, check locally to see if they have done (or are about to do) this:

Plans are currently underway to upgrade this system from analog to ProVoice digital.

I don't think any scanner will track a Provoice Digital System. :(

Quite right - and 30-40 miles in typical NH terrain on 800 with a stock antenna? Not gonna happen. Check on the NH forum and on this Yahoo group to see if there are updates on this system. 73s Mike

In response to Manchester TRS going ProVoice...they already have. It is mostly used by Manchester PD during "Coded Broadcasts" and sensitive operations. It isn't used full-time because they seem to have problems with the portables in certain areas of the city. I've heard several officers complain to dispatch that they "didn't copy the coded broadcast" (hovever, analog appeared to be working fine). Likewise with dispatch trying to copy some portables. At this time, analog just seems to be more reliable for day-to-day operations.

For starters, on a Pro-96 (if it's anything like the Pro-95, which I used to own), you have to enter the freqs as follows (x = Bank #):

x00 - LOCKED
x01 - 856.21250
x02 - 856.48750
x03 - 857.48750
x04 - 858.48750
x05 - 859.48750
x06 - 860.48750
x07 - 854.98750
x08 - 856.76250
x09 - 857.23750
x10 - 857.93750
x11 - 858.21250

Once you program those channels in the Logical Channel Number order, and if you are within range of this system (from what I've read here, Manchester's TRS is notoriously weak compared to other systems), you should be able to hear the analog TG's on Manchester's system.

I have never herd Activity on LCN 11. I have on every other chennal, but never that one, Mabye they dropped it, and are only usuing 9 VOICE channels. The CC for teh Manchester EDACS is usually one of teh First 6 Channels (usually 3) I dont belive Manchester Trunk is very powerful. But if you can hear it its a very active system, and very good to listen to!
