Edwin G. Schiller died Jan. 28, 2012, at the age of 75.
Mr. Schiller was a resident of Oakhurst for 10 years.
He was born Jan. 15, 1937 in Bridgeport, Conn.
He served for 20 years with the Trumbull center fire department and rose from firefighter to captian in those years
Mr. Schiller enjoyed gardening.
He was a member of the Sierra Senior Society and the Oakhurst Lutheran Church.
Mr. Schiller is survived by wife Ruthann Schiller; sons Edwin Jr., Mike, Jeff, Chris, Robert and James; and grandchildren Carlton, Sarah, Jessica, Lauren and Christiana.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Feb. 10 at the Oakhurst Lutheran Church --
A Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God, whenever flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life, whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child before it is too late
Or save an older person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor and protect his property.
And if, according to my fate, I am to lose my life;
Please bless with your protecting hand, my children and my wife.
