Telescopic Whip

Hi, I have a telescopic whip I removed from a vintage Realistic walkie talkie.

Looking for a possible use for this antenna.
One place may be as a shortened vertical for 11 and 10 meters.

If I found another whip like this one then I might have the makings for a shortened dipole.
I already know that it is best to have a full size antenna.
Any info on this would be highly appreciated.

Apparently what you have is an 11 Meter vertical with a loading coil to shorten its length. The coil is probably designed for 4 Watts AM so you are only going to be able to run QRP power levels. That said, it may work on 10 Meters but you will have to use an antenna analyzer to verify that. And yes, you would be better off using antennas made for the two bands and capable of more power. What transceivers do you have so we can know what output power levels they have?

I do not have any plans right now to use this
Just wanted to see what other's had to say about it. These type of antennas would be a great project for radio people to try out.
