Hey guys, just picked up a PRO-106 from radio shack. Was a refurb unit on the shelf for 300. Couldn't pass it up. This is my first time with a digital scanner (I have experience in the CB and analog scanning areas).

The guys at radio shack programmed the ARMER stuff for the Duluth and Saint Louis county into my unit and its working great.

My question is, am I able to pick up Minnesota state patrol? I attempted to add the talk groups IDs that are listed on RR for MSP but I'm getting nothing! I just "duplicated" the last channel and changed the ID and name. What am I missing? I haven't heard a peep yet.

Sorry if this is a really noob question. I'm less than 48 hours into this, doing a lot of reading but I figured I would ask some experienced folk. Thanks!

Welcome to the Armer System. For that make sure that you have the closest control channels in your scanner in the Duluth area. But the talk group is 36500 for Duluth. Could just be they are not busy, but I would check to make sure you have all the control channels that are close to you. They are ones in red labeled in the databases for the different towers. Another thing to check is to make sure that the talk group isn't locked out. Easy to do that sometimes to. Hope these will work, and ask if your still having some troubles.

Try adding 36564 as well. That is the Virginia State Patrol main. Because of the recent merger the Duluth and Virginia mains are patched together. Depending how your radio handles the patch it might receive that patched traffic only on 36564. At least this is true with my Uniden Scanner. Good Luck

You may even want to consider operating it in the TRUNK SEARCH mode instead of the TRUNK SCAN mode to see what other talkgroups show up.

Awesome! I added one primary frequency that was close to Duluth (molde?) that wasn't on the list, and added the Virginia ID and started picking it up! Super pumped guys, thanks again.

Now another question if you don't mind...

I drove through pine county the other day and was excited to see if they would be picked up. I got nothing. In fact outside of Barnum I lost picking up everything.

My question is, will adding the control channel frequencies for pine county let me pick them up in the Duluth area? Or would I still have to be in the pine county area? Can I just make a new project 25 scan list for pine county so I can switch when I am out of the duluth area and in pine county?

Really appreciate the help guys.

What JASII said is especially a good idea since that area is still in transition and new talkgroups are sure to pop and that will allow you to snag them.
