Anyone heard any updates on the new "east side" tower for Terre Haute?

Haven't noticed any construction at the proposed site and haven't noticed any changes running ETRUNK (i.e. new data channels/frequencies).

Testing

The system is on the air, and in the first phase of testing, so far the results are very positive. THFD has been testing all morning with no coverage problems. Stay tuned for updates!

You must have a bad scanner. However this is the best test for the system, analog is the worst possible coverage, and it is working great thus far. When and if the FD goes digital their system coverage will only get better.

... and that means no more listening to THFD. The system is Provoice - not APCO-25 like the state Project Hoosier SAFE-T system.

Not at this time, it may be a while for the THFD to go Digital, however the new system is designed for migration to Apco 25, the repeaters already have the slots for the Apco controllers.

Hoosier safe-t is not APCO 25 it is APCO 23 1/2 3600 baud not 9600. at least on any system in our area.

System is on, it is only running on four channels untill the the migration to to the second site is done. testing is complete and so far the only coverage problem has been the basement under married student housing. and a few tunnels under ISU. All city radios should be on the second site starting october 9th.

Ok thanks, must mean they are waiting for the Combined dispatch Center to open...

County and City officals have set an Oct 6-8 date as the moving equipment date for the city

It has been reported to me that the Airport Police are now using the system in Pro Voice unencrypted mode. They have been heard on the dispatch talkgroup, unknown if they have their own. Also, only 10 codes and plain english are to be used once the new combined dispatch center opens. The county units are not going to utilize "signals" and the city units are not going to use the "codes". Hope this helps you all over there :)
